…finding grace to help in the time of need…

In today’s times… Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with thy God…

Midnight Cry- Michael English & The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

I’ve been troubled in my spirit lately.

All around I see turmoil, destruction, despair, immorality, hopelessness.  We were warned.

  • And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be?  and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
  • And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
  • For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
  • And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars:  see that ye be not troubled:  for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
  • For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:  and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
  • All these are the beginning of sorrows.
  • Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you:  and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
  • And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
  • And many false prophets shall rise, andshall deceive many.
  • And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
  • But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.  Matthew 24:  3-13

Watching today’s news footage is like watching the pages of Scripture unfold.  The economy, the election, the natural disasters, the condition of people in third world countries and across the globe…  it’s no wonder that many are grasping desperately for answers to save a planet in peril.  Yet, it’s the soul of man in desperate need.

Resisting the effects of the financial strain on my own household is a battle in itself.  But most disturbing is seeing the hold of the prince of the power of the air on the people all around me.  Our young people are inundated with temptation to sin we could not have fathomed in our youth.

  • This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
  • For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
  • Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
  • Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
  • Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:  from such turn away.  II Timothy 3:1-5

….Lead us NOT into temptation, Lord, but, deliver us from evil (the evil one)!    As the battle rages I find myself questioning how I might possibly be a light in such darkness, second guessing my choices and feeling an urgency in my spirit to rise up in the power of HIS might.  But then I remember that it’s NOT by might, NOR by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.  (Zechariah 4:6)  And I’m ever thankful for the outpouring of His Spirit- initially at Pentecost- to all believers that we might be His witnesses as well as receive His power to overcome…  even at such a time as this.  Greater is HE that is in us than he that is in the world!

Today, I stand in prayer, united with believers in Christ for the forgiveness of our sins and the healing of our land.

  • He hath Shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”  Micah 6:8

Hi Rena,

This is all so true right now. The verse from Micah is one of my favorites giving us three DIFFICULT things to do: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. They don’t seem so hard at first glance, but just try to put them into practice and find out how hard you have to lean on God! Thanks for the reminder of “what is good” and “what the Lord doth require”.

I’m a Believer!

Laura,

You’re right…. such a simple mandate, but it’s not always as easy as it sounds.

It helps to remember that even in such trying times, the Word is still the same!

Sometimes I forget that HE will do the work. I just need to OBEY! 😉
